Mission Statement
To fulfill its mission, Florida Affordable Houses, LLC must:

1) Encourage the continuing growth of all individuals involved.
2) Maximize the safety, livability and design quality for the
benefit of owners and users.
3) Build and strengthen long term relationships with all
involved citizens, businesses, partners and government.
4) Fulfill its financial commitments.

During the boom years of real estate in Florida, the major
developers built thousands of housing units that were beyond
the reach of most of the people who live in this state – tiny
condos that cost more than $400 a square foot for
“international investors,” luxurious McMansions near the water
for people from “up north,” gated communities miles away from
the city centers whose residents become slaves of their cars
the day they move into their new suburb.  (We long for the days
of our youth when we walked to the store for a loaf of bread or
milk, instead of having to get in a car.)  The motto for the
teachers, firemen, nurses and policemen who wanted a home
– “Drive until you qualify” – started to ring hollow when gas
reached $3 a gallon.

This real estate cycle has burst, but not the price of homes.
Many essential members of this community – the people who
provide the core services that we all need to make Florida feel
like home – are still not capable of realizing the American
dream of home ownership.  The people we need to make our
communities viable are picking up and leaving Florida, as
evidence by the fact that school enrollment has begun to shrink.

Florida Affordable Housing LLC is a company formed by
people who are from, live or work in South Florida.  Our
relatives work for the school systems and for the courts.  Our
friends are small businessmen.  We know what it means to
struggle to make ends meet on a government salary.  We also
know that a $500,000 house isn’t a realistic option for middle-
income residents who don’t want to suffer the pain of an
adjusting mortgage in the near future. Our goal, summed up by
our business motto, is to build “Real homes for the real people
of Florida.”

How do we do it? Simple: We don’t max out our sales price,
preferring to keep our margins on each individual house low.
We’re not greedy enough to be Donald Trump’s apprentice, but
we don’t want to live in New York anyway! We’re just fine in
Florida near our families and the beach.
